Description

There is a reason why we sell out of this ski every season. The Atomic Backland 98 Women's ski was designed to handle the widest range of conditions you might find in the backcountry; from deep powder to tracked snow, to old, bumpy crud. Starting with 98mm underfoot, the 'new all-around' ski waist for winter fun, the entire profile of this ski performs well in the backcountry or your favorite resort. Atomic ski designers didn't overdo the tip or tail width, and kept both to a svelte minimum to better do the job of being an all-around ski, not just a powder ski. With its sexy shaping, the ski can carve an incredibly tight 14.5m radius turn!

Then, they expertly laid down a wide carbon fiber strip in the spine of the ultra-light wood core. They call it a Carbon Fiber Backbone, which not only makes the ski very light, it offers tremendous stability for the downhill. The resulting flex character of the ski is relatively stiff, snappy, and very responsive.

The hand-crafting of the dimensions is evident in the pretty, spoon-shaped tip designed to rise over powder and track better in variable snow conditions. The semi-twin tip profile, slight camber, and short turn radius make the ski good for goofing off or freeriding on groomers.

You will also love Atomic's ski tip and tail notches because they make attaching and stripping your skins so easy you'll look like a pro!

Hard to believe for a ski that weighs 1200g, the Backland 98 is floaty, yet carvy. Firm, yet even-flexing. The Backland 98 is truly a one-ski-quiver.
