The G3 SLAYr 114 Alpine Touring Ski is a freeride ski with backcountry touring roots. It's a powerful balance of lightweight construction, playful shape, and downhill intention. Take these on human-powered missions to big mountain ski lines or butter through waist-deep powder harvests.
The SLAYr construction is built from a Balsa wood core with 45-degree wood grain direction. This new-age core creates a stiffer flex pattern from a lightweight product. The ski is then sandwiched with multi-axial carbon fibre both above and below for added liveliness and pop. Then, a full layer of titanal aluminum is added for dampness and power. G3's signature textured nylon topsheet is placed on top to prevent nicks and scratches but also to help shed snow and ice.
G3's PU sidewall construction is what really sets this company's ski construction apart. The PU is poured into the ski as a liquid and sets in place solid, creating a permanent bond to the wood core and a seamless sidewall on the ski. Using PU, rather than ABS, makes the ski more durable and more damp (thus less chatter). This is because PU is more elastic than ABS, so it can absorb more energy for the same amount of material. G3 is leading the field in this new ski manufacturing technology. All G3 skis also come equipped with magnetic contact points on the bases, so you can transition faster and fiddle less. You'll look like a boss with this backcountry magic trick.
The SLAYr is shaped with flat camber, early tip rise, and early tail release. This design is meant for playful easy skiing that can still maintain stability at high speeds. The big shovel provides effortless turning and a surfy feel to this deep powder cruiseliner. If you like lots of snow, like to ski lots of snow, and like to do all of that human-powered, then the SLAYr is your new best friend.
