The Vertical Eagle delivers a more than capable touring ski that will send you flying up the skin track as well as back down. This ultralight construction allows for swift steps when hiking up the steepest terrain and a smooth and responsive turn when cruising down open slopes and tight couloirs.
Constructed with Carbon C-Ply technology to deliver ultra-light and agile movement in your approach and decent. The Carbon is wrapped around a solid Paulownia wood core that maintains quick and familiar motions that you get with any downhill ski. The early rise tip rocker allows for a solid step on your accent and an enhanced and connected turn when ripping at high speeds.

The Dynastar Vertical Eagles tick most of the boxes for a very lightweight touring ski, and they are marketed by Dynastar as a serious mountaineering ski. I have used mine for local mountain races, early season backcountry, spring backcountry and steep couloirs. The skis are incredibly light, have a full sidewall and badass looks. They are stiff, stiff, stiff, from tip to tail. Almost too stiff for a great variety of uses. If I had to pick one specialty of this ski it would be as the manufacturers describe, "long, high alpine traverses in the Alps". Best used for steep, narrow couloirs where you need a tool to get you down safely rather that a fun all-around touring ski.
The Vertical Eagle is like a "race powder ski" for me. I say that because it is super lightweight (1,100g/ski) and its 87mm underfoot with a 120 shovel. I used it in the Power of 4 race in Aspen and the ski has the stiffness and stability underfoot to rocket down the steep, bumpy, powder or variable snow conditions that you may encounter in a ski mountaineering race. I can routinely beat competitors on 65mm underfoot race skis in the steepest terrain where they might have to pick their way down.
When paired with a mid-power boot, Its also an awesome choice for fast-and-light ascents and descents in the backcountry.
