Boot Fitters Advice

Why We Like the Dynafit TLT8 Carbonio

Revamped and better than ever, the TLT8 Carbonio is the go to lightweight touring boot for extended days in the backcountry or for those big training days getting ready for your next race. The TLT8 Carbonio is built for speed, but with the new features you won't have to compromise on downhill performance.

Dynafit reworked their entire TLT line for the 2020 season by breaking down the boots weak points and improving where necessary. First step was doing away with the wired cuff strap and adding a ladder buckle to increase the durability of the TLT8. This allows the Carbonio to withstand a much higher force when reaching down on the cuff for an optimal stiffness and fit.

The TLT8 still features the 1 buckle system, the Ultra-Lock 4.0, to make it easy to go from walk to ski mode in a matter of seconds. The Speed-nose that is not new to Dynafits line helps create a more natural feel when skinning up the track. And finally, the Pomoca rubber sole allows you to walk and climb over any obstacle in your path.

  • Lightweight design for the ambitious ski tourer
  • Singular buckle for easy transition between ski and walk mode
  • 60 degree cuff rotation with custom light liner for efficient, comfortable touring
  • 15-18 degree forward lean
  • Pomoca Climb boot sole for superior traction with Grilamid shell and Carbon/Grilamid cuff for a lightweight yet durable construction
  • Tech binding compatible

Dynafit TLT8 Carbonio

I bought these boots to replace a pair of five year old TLT7s that wore out. I've only skied on them once but they are great so far. I have size 14 feet so it's important to me to have boots that give my big feet enough room to be pain free on long tours. I've read that TLT7 and TLT8 are too roomy for some people but they are perfect for me. I found this review to be insightful: https://www.wildsnow.com/28106/dynafit-tlt-8-expedition-cr-w-touring-boot-review/

The future of lightweight boots!!

The TLT8 Carbonio is a boot that checks all the boxes for me for what a lightweight touring boot should be. I previously owned the TLT7 Carbonio, and after snapping the ski/walk mech cable (twice!) Dynafit hooked up the TLT8, and I gotta say they made HUGE improvements and I'm psyched on the changes. The plastic ladder straps are much more durable and the boot feels more secure over my instep. The flex in ski mode feels stiffer as well, and I can really drive the boots and ski well and I'm pushing a 102 underfoot ski (Navis Freebird). Only downside is that the liner is on the thinner side, so once I wear it out I plan to upgrade to an Intuition liner. If you like going uphill fast and still want a boot to perform on the downhill then get this boot.
