Atomic Backland 85 UL Alpine Touring Ski 2020

Ask a Question

While Atomic is best known for downhill performance, they are excelling in the uphill side of things as well. With the Backland 85 UL, they have showcased just that by creating a lightweight ski that also skis exceptionally well on the down. An ultralight wood core reinforced with a Carbon Backbone keeps this ski light enough for big days in the backcountry. When it comes time to ski down, 85mm underfoot, horizon tech in the tip, and a Step Down Sidewall give this ski the exceptional downhill performance Atomic is known for. Long story short, these skis can handle easily any type of snow, from groomers to bottomless powder, all while remaining light enough for the biggest uphill days.

Great Product; Better Service

Paired with the Atomic Backland pin bindings and custom Pomoca Race skins, these skis punch well above their weight. Coming off 182 Cho Oyus w/ Superlites, I saved grams (taking into consideration skins) and gained overall hard snow performance without sacrificing the soft (Chos excel w/ large shovel - hrzn has been great thus far). Thank you Doug and team for helping me select this setup and turning it around for early-spring missions.
