Atomic took an incredible boot in the Hawx XTD, and made it even better. Featuring an upgraded liner, updated walk mechanism, and re-designed buckle system- the 2020 version of the Hawx XTD 120 will perform better on both the uphill and downhill. The frictionless cuff and 74 degrees of articulation makes every step count during your tour, while the four buckle overlap construction ensures that you can rip every vertical foot you earned (or not). Atomic achieves this light, yet powerful balance through their prolite construction, which starts off with a minimalist design and reinforces the boot where needed. If you plan on spending a lot of time riding lifts in your touring boot, or you simply want a boot that can rip in the backcountry- this boot fits the bill.
While the specs are impressive, they don‚t mean much if the boot doesn‚t fit your foot. The all new liner holds its shape better and for longer, offers a snug heel pocket, and will transmit power to your skis more efficiently for the downhill. However, the best part about the liner/shell combo is that they are both fully heat moldable. If the basic heat mold doesn‚t give you the room you need, you can pop the entire boot in the oven and get up to 10mm of room in the ankle and 6mm in the forefoot. The result is a custom anatomical fit that will not only feel like a glove, but ski better too. If you‚re looking for a ripping backcountry boot that will feel just as at home riding lifts as it does on the skintrack, then look no further.
