The Black Crows Orb Freebird is a traditional touring ski that will allow you to spend long days in the mountains. The signature fluorescent yellow top sheet has built a reputation for itself as a skinny ski that is iterate in many types of snow conditions. The '20% rockered tip / 80% traditional camber shape' help the ski handle different conditions for its waist width. The rockered tip helps keep the ski above soft snow or variable crud, while the traditional camber underfoot gives the ski reliable edge control. The Orb Freebird is built in line with the rest of the Freebird Series: lightweight Paulownia wood core wrapped with a mixed fiberglass-carbon fiber laminate. A titanal binding reinforcement plate is placed underfoot to ensure adequate binding retention while saving on weight. The ski is then wrapped with a full ABS sidewall to improve dampening and vibration control.
The intention with the Orb Freebird was to create a ski that first and foremost provides ample downhill performance, and then make a shape and construction that will be friendly for the uphill. We appreciate that Black Crow holds downhill skiing paramount, and can attest to the fact that the Orb Freebird [like the rest of the Freebird line] ski predictably and energetically. These are the skis that you want for ski mountaineering come springtime, or a lightweight all-season touring option that will last longer than an ultralight (<1300 gram) equivalent ski.
Strap into the Black Crow Orb Freebird and hop turn as if you were a sparrow soaring through the Western Alps (that's cool right?).

I absolutely love this ski- especially in the springtime when mountaineering season comes around. Black Crows really built a perfect ski for fast uphills and fun downhills. Not a pow ski, but can definitely handle everything I threw at it. Corn Crusher. Easy Kick turns. Great ski!!!
