When your line looks more like an elevator shaft, a super light ski with a quick turn radius may sounds great, but in reality can work against you. The Chamonix based Black Crows and Julien Regnier have skied a few steep technical lines in their backyard and have developed a purpose built steep skiing platform.
With tip to tail stiffness and a 25 meter turn radius, the Solis can not be described as playful or snappy. It is however an incredibly solid machine when it matters most. The in minimal yet rises quickly to promote smooth hook-free turns. The ski is very stiff from tip to tail for stability and have a solid brake option when carrying a heavy load of climbing and glacier gear. Or as the side wall motto states, "elle est bien raide". Poplar and Beech woods make up a core that is reinforced with a titanal mounting plate for a bomber construction that was designed with stability first. Carbon and fiber glass weaves complete the layup. This means that the Solis will come in heavier than the freebird line and most of our skis but still not tip the scales the way a full ash/fiberglass ski would. 100 mm waist width is perfect for the 45 degree plus terrain this ski was built for, keep your boot tucked in behind its reinforced 2.5mm edges.
Styled out in the traditional minimalist Black Crows way, this black and neon beauty comes with an angular tip with small chevron notch. The Solis is a dream ski for a strong skier on a trip to Chamonix or La Grave, just remember to invite us after you pick up a pair!
