The Black Diamond Helio Carbon 115 is a powder surfing, trail breaking beast of a touring ski. With an impressive surface area to weight ratio, the Helio Carbon 115 is a great uphill, wide ski option. Black Diamond promptly states this ski to be optimal for 90% soft snow and 10% hard snow (that 10% is for the end of the year pond skim).
The Helio Carbon Series has an engineered paulownia wood core layered with a bidirectional carbon fiber/fiberglass weave. The bidirectional layup and lightweight wood core create a balanced, torsionally stiff touring ski base. Also included in the build are ABS sidewalls that wrap the perimeter of the ski for added dampening and durability. PTEX 4500 bases line the bottom for industry-premium glide and scratch protection. A titanal mounting plate is placed underfoot for better binding retention. Rounded tip and ABS protected tails allow for traditional climbing skin attachment components. All together, that's what's inside the large and in charge Helio Carbon 115.
The Helio Carbon 115 has a slarving-oriented (slash and carve) 25/60/15 profile with an early 25% rockered tip, a 60% mild camber underfoot, and a 15% semi-rockered tail. This ski is great for staying on top of deep snow: be it early season where there are sharky, sharp rocks close to the surface, on low-angle terrain where smaller skis couldn't keep up speed, or on deep and dirty powder days where you want 115 mm of powder-slashing pleasure. The Helio Carbon 115 is a powder ski. Grab a pair to thoroughly enjoy skiing powder.
