The DPS Wailer 106 remains our shop favorite. Widely considered DPS's most versatile shape of their Wailer series the 106 shines in mid-winter powder, spring conditions, and everything in between. A rockered tip and tail provide nimble turning power yet the provided camber underfoot delivers the control needed for carving. The Tour1 construction is their lightest construction with a balsa and carbon wrapped core and at 1440g (178 length) it's pretty much the lightest powder ski you can find. This ski has been mounted once with a demo Dynafit Radical ST 2.0 binding, which adjusts for any boot keeping boot center on the recommended position on the ski.
The ST features brakes for convenience, slight forward pressure on your boot from the heeltower to enhance power transfer while skiing, and a movable toe piece which protects your knees while skiing (by imperceptibly absorbing shock from underfoot just like a traditional alpine binding).
Durable Pomoca S-Glide skins and a Phantom ski base treatment complete this perfect backcountry package. No need to wax your skis, the Phantom treatment is hydrophobic and so will accelerate you as soon as you start to ski. And it's good for the life of the ski! Getting a base grind on your shredsticks will simply expose a fresh layer of phantom-treated base; this keeps your bases hydrated, lessens the chance of skin glue sticking to them, and feels awesome to ski on!
