¯¯For one sad year Dynafit switched the Vulcan to a fiber glass cuff, and then they retired it completely. Do to popular demand they are now back and in carbon! This is one of the greatest skiing touring boots ever made and when they are gone this time they will be gone for good.
The Vulcan is the freeride touring boot that just won't quit. Many have tried to copy, but no one can make a boot that skis as hard and tours as well. Ski hard and prosper. Vulcan - An extraterrestrial humanoid species in the Star Trek Universe who evolved on the planet by same name. It's also the most badass freeride boot in this solar system!
Working as a boot fitter in a downhill ski shop I waited and waited for an AT boot that would finally give me the same performance as alpine boots. The Vulcan is that match with the added advantage of being lightweight (1590g). Grilamid lower and carbon upper make this boot burly and performance driven. All other boots in the line are modeled after this one. The Vulcan allows for customization with adjustable forward lean and optional plastic tongues for even more feedback from the boot. Sixty degrees of cuff articulation make sure you‚re not off the back. Skin hard, ski fast, live well and prosper.

I cannot review the boots until they arrive - I’m still waiting for delivery!
I tried to replace my Vulcan’s with Hoji’s both tour and free, as well as the Tecnica pro tour. I didn’t fit the Hoji as well amd felt the Vulcan skied as well, or better than the Tecnica, which is quite narrow. Tried to fit the Tecnica with a plug race liner from Intuition but still wasn’t happy. Went back to the tried and true Vulcan which has served me well for years. I tour without the tongue and ski areas with the tongue in place.
I feel very lucky to have found a shop with such a great selection of ski touring and skimo gear, and am happy to drive ~2hrs to go to this shop. Perhaps most importantly, they have extensive knowledge and experience with the products they sell, unlike many alpine ski and snowboard shops that happen to stock a few AT/skimo products. The CC staff have been super helpful in guiding my gear choices, as well as super reasonable and competitive on pricing, as well as super fast and efficient on the shop work (e.g. mounts, adjustments, etc.)... only great experiences so far, and will go out of my way to work with Doug, Randy, Aaron, Paul, (and their other staff!) for my future AT/skimo needs. Only super minor negative thing to say is that they can get crowded with customers after work, lunchtime etc... so if you are able to stop by weekdays and/or morning or mid-afternoon it will be calmer!
