The G3 FINDr 86 Swift Alpine Touring Ski is a long-distance, all-day touring tool. These skis are designed to be as efficient as possible for the uphill while still retaining the confident skiability that G3 prides itself on. The FINDr construction starts with a Canadian Aspen core layered both above and below with a multi-axial carbon fibre laminate. This lightweight core material paired with ample carbon fibre creates a lively and responsive ski. The FINDr skis feature a textured nylon top sheet to help protect against nicks and scratches while also more easily shedding snow and ice. The most unique construction technique employed by G3 is using PU in their sidewalls rather than ski-industrial typical ABS material. PU is less rigid than ABS and able to absorb more energy (more elastic). This means that PU sidewalls will absorb more chatter at high speeds, provide more stable downhill performance, and create a more durable ski. Win-win-win. The PU is poured into the ski as a liquid and sets in place solid, creating a permanent bond to the wood core and a seamless sidewall on the ski. Pretty slick. Oh, and you can leave your ski strap at home because all G3 skis come equipped with magnetic contact points for faster transitions and less fiddling around.
The FINDr has a traditional camber shape with early tip rise. This profile is intended to excel with ski mountaineering and technical ski descents where you might encounter mixed snow conditions, you want max edge control, and predicable skis under your feet trump all. The early tip rise also helps skinnier skis stay on top of deep snow days in the backcountry. The FINDr 86 Swift is a solidly built, light and fast touring ski capable of long technical days in the mountains.
