G3 SEEKr 100 Alpine Touring Ski
The G3 SEEKr 100 Alpine Touring Ski is a versatile, do-it-all, kind of backcountry ski. They are lightweight and easy to ski, which makes them a playful backcountry daily driver. 100 mm underfoot is an all-season sweet-spot for ski shape; that paired with the SEEKr's large shovel gives the ski versatility and float.
The SEEKr is built on a poplar/paulownia wood core layered above and below with multi-axial carbon fibre (fiber in Canadian). A textured nylon top sheet is used to help protect against nicks and scratches while also more easily shedding snow and ice. On the bottom, a full-thickness PTEX base is paired with full-thickness metal edges for a smooth and durable ride. G3's unique PU sidewall construction is what really sets this company's skis apart. The PU is poured into the ski as a liquid and sets in place solid, creating a permanent bond to the wood core and a seamless sidewall on the ski. Using PU, rather than ABS, makes for a more durable ski and a more damp downhill ride. This is because PU is more elastic than ABS, so it can absorb a greater amount of energy for the same amount of material. It's cool to see G3 innovate in this particular segment of ski manufacturing. Oh, and don't forget that all G3 skis also come equipped with magnetic contact points on the bases, so you can have faster transitions and less fiddling around by snapping your skis together - no straps required!
The SEEKr 100 has a playful backcountry shape: slight camber underfoot with long and early rise in the tip and tail. This is a soul surfer amongst the uphill ski community. It's designed to smear turns, slash powder, and surf through soft snow like a Waikiki long board. If you are looking for a hard charger that can bash through variable snow, the SEEKr 100 is not it. What about a fun and playful powder hound? That sounds more like the SEEKr series. We know that G3 is not a household name in the lower 48. However, based on the vast numbers of customers that have tried and then purchased the SEEKr 100, we have a feeling that is going to change. If you like soft snow and fun surfy skiing then the SEEKr is right up your alley.
