Hagan's Pure 8 touring binding is their branded version of the ATK Crest. It features a stripped down design of the Core 12 that is lighter, costs less and is more friendly on the uphill. The heel features one flap instead of three for 3 climbing positions instead of 5, and features a release range of 3-8 instead of 5-12. The heel adjustment plate gives you 20mm of adjustment in a narrower and lighter design. Everything included (brakes, adjustment, integrated crampon mount) this binding ways a slim 280 grams making it the perfect companion for big missions deep in the mountains we love.
Simple toe step in, quick secure clamping and easily adjustable climbing aids make this binding simple and effective to use when the situation requires a steady hand. When it comes time for the descent, Hagan bindings feature a super solid boot connection and no lateral heel play. This translates to maximum efficiency between boot and ski and as a result, great feel on the decent. Paired with Hagan's Core skis, this makes for a lightweight, versatile and great value package.

To be honest, it is my first touring binding so I have no comparison. But it has worked out perfectly for me so far. Today was the first day that I used it in true downhill mode and it was awesome. Also when people see me on the mountain they always seem to like the binding! I report back when I have more mileage but so far I could not be happier.
