Intro to AT / Splitboard Gear and Skinning
this course is perfect for those that just purchased gear from us and want to learn the proper way to use it from seasoned professional guides in the mountains
This introductory course will focus entirely on your new Alpine Touring (AT) or Splitboard gear and all the many techniques involved with skinning, skiing and transitions from one to another. This course is offered through our partners at Aspen Expeditions. Professional AE guides will help you understand your new equipment and the nuances of each brand / model and how to use it properly.
We will meet at 8:30 am at the base of the Gondola and then proceed to the top of Aspen Mountain and out Richmond Ridge. We will NOT be skiing in avalanche terrain and will not be in need of carrying avalanche safety equipment. For this course, you have the option to purchase a “one ride” lift ticket for the Gondola for $41. Please click here to purchase that before the day of the course. Your instructors will bring you your lift pass.
We will spend the short 4-5 hour day working on our gear understanding and skinning techniques. Please pack enough water and food to be outside for the 4-5 hours with us. If you need any of the gear (listed below), please let us know beforehand by giving us a call at our Highlands location: (970) 925-7710 or info@cripplecreekbc.com.
Everyone must fill out an Aspen Expeditions Waiver prior to their outing - click HERE
