The new Summit Proprius GoreTex Jacket is the rain and heavy snow armor in the new ski mountaineering layering system from The North Face. When you want to move efficiently in the mountains, your outerwear has to strike a balance between protection, breathability and weight. The North Face went through great lengths to combine all of the technologies you need to achieve this balance and strip out all frills that aren't paramount to your day in the mountains in their new Proprius line.
The shell of this system utilizes GoreTex Active membrane, 3 layer, seam-sealed water/windproof fabric with a lightweight and minimalist design to keep out the elements while not adding excess heat or weight. The attached hood is fully adjustable with a laminated wire brim, and the large Cohaesive cord locks make adjustments easy with gloved hands. The hem also cinches down with single hand Cohaesive cord lock. A single waterproof zippered chest pocket with a mesh smart phone pocket allows you to keep the essentials accessible without creating pocket overload and unwanted bulk.
We tested this shell last spring in the PNW and in pouring rain in Patagonia this summer with strong success. Check out the entire Proprius line, we're stoked on it!
