The Taka is a backcountry splitboard built with vertical feet in mind. Designed by Wolle Nyvelt and Takaharu Nakai this directional powder board is loaded with features to keep it easy goin' up the skin track and handle any conditions you find out there.
Salomon prioritizes the reduction of single use plastics and wasteful materials while lightening up the construction for long uphill days. Cork rails replace ABS sidewalls, and the new ABC wrapper incorporates bamboo veneers, reducing need for fiberglass resin and the Ghost Green Core utilizes lightweight paulownia wood.
A huge rocker tip keeps this directional power plank aloft in it's natural environment and powder camber underfoot provides control, especially in softer snow. 117cm of effective edge and a 2 degree bevel underfoot give you the edge hold you need when riding mixed snow conditions. Popster technology tapers the thickness of the wood core to create energy during movement, like having a lever underfoot to power you into a turn. (Think kick flips on a skateboard)
Flotation and playfulness is where the HPS shines, it's the perfect ride for cold backcountry snow yet has the technology built in to handle wind scoured slopes, crusty mornings, chopped up powder, can stop on a dime, and handle the steeps. It's a board built for the ride!
