La Sportiva Maestro LS Ski w/ Skins
When skiers and engineers get together to try to make some of the lightest skis in the world the result is the Maestro LS by Ski Trab and La Sportiva. The company claims "it is the most technologically advanced ski on the market" and we would be hard pressed to argue that point. The lightweight crowd will be impressed by the weigh in, a mere 940 grams in the 171 cm length. The downhill crowd will be impressed by the lengthy list of technological wonders imparted on the ski to enable it to be light yet sturdy and reliable on the downhill. How did Ski Trab manage to create such a lightweight ski mountaineering ski that can maximize downhill enjoyment? One standout feature is the Attivo integrated shock absorber system. Basically, Ski Trab designers added structural polymers throughout the length of the ski which help dampen vibrations and smooth out the ride. The rest of the magic lies in the construction and shape of the ski. The ski is built out of 14 lightweight layers including an Aramid honey comb structure and carbon torsion control cage which add stiffness and antitorsional strength without compromising the bending qualities needed for an easy turning ski. The shape of the ski allows for progressive flex in tip and tail and the sidecut is moved slightly backward from center.
- ¯14 Layer construction
- Attivo Shock Absorber: Runs along the entire top radius of ski to reduce chatter
- Only 940g and still 75mm underfoot
- Progressive flex for forgiveness in all conditions
