The new fully integrated brake is tied to the climbing riser via a high-strength steel cable, so transitioning the binding from climbing to skiing still only requires a flick of the riser to access the heel pins and deploy the brake. Constructed out of a mix of premium materials like 7075 aluminum and titanium, these bindings provide a level of confidence on the downhill seldom found in a 120-gram package. Utilizing ATK's springless toe-piece design, skiers can choose from three different levels of hardness of the up-hill locking mechanism and are less susceptible to icing than traditional spring-driven designs.
