The Giro Crue MIPS is a kids' snow helmet that swaps the in-mold shell of Giro's lighter kids' helmets for a tougher hard-shell build, aimed at riders who put their gear through it on the hill.
Hard shell construction molds a rugged outer shell separately, then bonds it to the EPS foam liner, adding a layer of shell durability over in-mold helmets in a similar weight class. Giro's MIPS system sits inside the liner on a low-friction layer, letting the shell rotate slightly on an angled impact to reduce rotational force transferred to the head. The In Form fit system adjusts up to 6 cm through a rear dial, with a separate vertical-tuning dial to angle the helmet for a tighter goggle seal. Stack ventilation lines up with goggle vents to cut down on fogging, backed by Super Cool vents for airflow on the way up, and a removable goggle retainer keeps goggles in place on windy chairlift rides. The Crue MIPS carries a CE EN1077 certification and is built for kids in extra-small and small head sizes.
Where the Spur MIPS leans toward light weight, the Crue MIPS is Giro's more rugged kids' helmet option, without giving up any of the same MIPS protection.
