The Atomic Backland 80 UL Ski is the pinnacle of high-performance ultralight mountaineering skis. As the successor to the Backland UL 78, the Backland 80 UL represents an evolution in Atomic’s quest for excellence. Central to the Backland 80 UL's design is the Ultra Light Woodcore, complemented by carbon fiberglass layers and a Carbon Backbone. This combination ensures a ski that is not only exceptionally light but also stable, responsive, and enjoyable across a wide range of snow conditions. The updated carbon fiberglass layup enhances energy transfer for lively, powerful turn.
The ski features 15% rocker and 85% camber, along with a flat tail. It is paired with Dura Cap Sidewalls, that provide exceptional edge hold on icy slopes. The 15% rocker, though modest, is complemented by the new HRZN 3D tip, which enlarges the tip’s surface area for improved flotation while reducing swing weight for effortless turn initiation.
