Boot Fitters Advice
Tech Specs

What do you want in an aggressive hard-charging alpine touring ski boot? The new Scott Freeguide Carbon is the stiff, progressive flexing boot that we want.  We want it to be relatively lightweight and for it to walk uphill without compromise.  We want it to work with any type of binding.  We want it to fit like a well worn glove. If you want these same things, then like us you want the Scott Freeguide Carbon alpine touring ski boot.

Many moons ago Scott Sports took over Garmont boots and voilà they had a complete and reputable alpine touring boot line to add to their celebrated winter sports products.  Many more moons later, we were still waiting for the innovators of Scott Sports to create their own alpine touring boot from the ground up and not just offer improved upon Garmont boots.

Well that time has finally come with the radically all new Freeguide Carbon boot that is truly designed ground up by the Swiss engineers at Scott Sports. Made from carbon-reinforced Grilamid (the good stuff), the Freeguide has a true 130 flex stiffness that is achieved with a partial overlap cuff, creating a more progressive forward boot flex.  The CabrioHybrid design uses a dual-action tongue that provides 60 degrees of resistance-free motion that is unheard of in an overlap constructed boot. 60 degrees of upper cuff pivot, is driving your car with your boots on kind of movement.

The Freeguide innovation continues with their carbon fiber injection process, in which the Grilamid base and the carbon fiber inserts are molded into one single component, resulting in a lighter, stiffer boot that is stable at all temperatures.   Round this out with a newly designed warm, thermo-moldable inner liner that locks your feet precisely in the boot for the up and the down thanks to the micro adjustable Boa locking system.

This boot has a performance minded fit with a 101 last that is a big departure from the historic Scott/Garmont wider lasted toe box. With the 130 progressive flexing sized 26.5 Freeride Carbon boot weighing in at a head-scratching 1455 grams, we say this boot was well worth the wait!
