The Mercury Mitts from Black Diamond are a three-component system built for serious mountain days where conditions shift between cold-and-dry and wet-and-heavy. The shell carries a PFC-free GTT Empel DWR treatment over a BD.dry waterproof insert for outer protection, while a removable PrimaLoft liner distributes warmth strategically: 170g of PrimaLoft Gold with Cross Core on the back of hand for thermal protection, and 133g of PrimaLoft Gold with Grip Control on the palm where dexterity is needed most. Leather palms with an added reinforcement layer stand up to repeated rope handling, ski pole use, and rocky terrain.
