Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W Touring Boot
The Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W Touring Boot is built for women who want a light touring stride and a shell that still drives a wide ski. A 100mm last fits medium feet and leaves a little extra width in the forefoot, and a carbon-loaded polyamide shell holds a genuine 115 flex. At 1,296 g per boot (size 25.5) and with 74 degrees of cuff rotation, the Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W suits long tours and ski mountaineering.

Why We Like It
- At 1,296 g per boot (size 25.5), the Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W skis a genuine 115 flex while staying lighter than most stiff women's freeride touring boots.
- The carbon-loaded shell and cuff give a progressive flex that we find a real step up from the softer Backland Carbon on the descent.
- The frictionless mirror pivots and 74-degree range of motion keep the stride long and smooth for efficient climbing.
- The lower cuff height and a true 22/22.5 mondo shell suit shorter and smaller-legged skiers who often swim in unisex touring boots.
Best Uses
- All-day touring and ski mountaineering with a downhill focus
- Powder touring on skis 95 to 110mm underfoot
- Women who want one boot for pin-tech and Shift setups
- Medium to slightly wide women's feet
- Smaller and shorter-legged skiers needing a lower cuff or 22.5 shell
Bootfitter's Advice
The Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W fits medium-volume and slightly roomy on a 100mm last, wider than the 98mm Backland Carbon and Hawx boots, with a secure heel and a lower cuff than the men's Backland XTD Carbon 120. After fitting hundreds of women tourers we find it suits medium to slightly wide feet and shorter legs; the forefoot has a little extra room, the instep sits on the lower side of medium, and the heel and ankle hold well. Atomic prints the true last on each sole, and the 22.5 shell measures 92mm, so smaller feet get a genuine fit rather than a shrunken larger shell.
The Memory Fit shell, a heat-moldable construction, heat molds and moderately punches, so plan changes at the sixth-toe and navicular, though a thin carbon touring shell accepts less modification than a burly alpine boot. The 3D Platinum Tour liner is light and on the thin side, so we lean on the shell mold rather than liner padding to settle the fit. Confirm length with a shell fit rather than converting from street-shoe size.

Compare the Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W
Backland XTD Carbon 115 W vs. Atomic Backland Carbon
The Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W skis a genuine 115 flex against the Backland Carbon's soft touring flex, and its ISO 9523 sole adds Salomon Shift and MNC compatibility that the tech-only Carbon lacks. The Backland Carbon is lighter and a touch better walking. Choose the XTD W for downhill power and binding range, the Carbon for the lightest option.
Shop Atomic Backland Carbon bootsBackland XTD Carbon 115 W vs. Tecnica Zero G Tour W
Both are stiff women's touring boots in the 1,300 g class. The Tecnica Zero G Tour skis a slightly damper flex with a four-buckle overlap, while the Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W walks with less resistance thanks to its tongue-free shell and 74-degree stride, and offers a true 22.5 shell for small feet. Descent-focused skiers lean Tecnica; uphill-focused lean Atomic.

The women's Hawx Ultra XTD 115 BOA is a full polyurethane 50/50 boot that skis with much more damping and power but weighs 290 g more per boot and walks with a shorter 54-degree stride. The Atomic Backland XTD Carbon 115 W is the lighter, better-walking touring choice. Choose the Hawx to ski hard inbounds and out, the Backland XTD W for dedicated touring.
