Tech Specs
La Sportiva Kilo XTR W Alpine Touring Boot
The La Sportiva Kilo XTR W Alpine Touring Boot is built for women ski mountaineers who want a mid-weight boot with real forward support. A 100.5 mm last fits a medium forefoot with a slim heel, and a Force Flex tongue in Pebax Rnew, a renewable castor-oil-based plastic, over a Grilamid Bio-Based LF Carbon shell carries a claimed 120 flex with a firmer front end than a tongueless boot. At 1,190 g per boot in a 26.5, with 68 degrees of cuff rotation, the La Sportiva Kilo XTR W drives touring skis 98 to 100 mm underfoot.

Why We Like It
- The Pebax Rnew Force Flex tongue gives the Kilo XTR W a claimed 120 flex and firmer forward drive than a tongueless boot.
- La Sportiva states 1,190 g at size 26.5, keeping the Kilo XTR W in the mid-weight class while skiing close to heavier boots.
- The 68-degree range of motion keeps the skin track efficient once the buckles and power strap are loosened.
- The women's Ultralon high-density liner molds to the foot for a custom, insulated fit.
- The WarmSole platform separates the foot from the carbon shell for cold winter belays.
- The Tilt-Lock Lite ski/walk lever is quick and glove friendly, and the FriXion Wave Alpine XTR sole grips rocky approaches.
Best Uses
- Women's ski mountaineering and backcountry touring
- Big-vertical days that still demand a confident descent
- Touring skis 90 to 100 mm underfoot
- Cold-weather missions where warmth matters
- Women with a medium forefoot and a narrow heel
Bootfitter's Advice
The Kilo XTR W uses the same 100.5 mm lower shell as the men's Kilo XTR, sized to the women's 23 to 27.5 range with a women's liner. It is generous at the ball and midfoot, snug and narrow at the heel, and tapered to a point at the toe, so overall volume runs lower than the 100.5 mm figure suggests. After fitting hundreds of skiers, we find it a good match for women who want a secure heel and a bit of forefoot room rather than a narrow race fit.
Set the instep a hair snug, since the Ultralon liner packs slightly with use. The carbon-infused Grilamid shell heat molds and accepts limited punching, and getting the full 68-degree range of motion takes a moment of loosening the upper buckle and power strap at transitions, so practice the routine.
