Tech Specs
Scarpa 4-Quattro SL Alpine Touring Boot
The SCARPA 4-Quattro SL is for skiers who want one boot for resort laps, sidecountry, and backcountry tours. Its supportive 120 flex and four-buckle overlap shell deliver confident downhill control, while the 1,430 g weight and 61° range of motion keep climbing comfortable for a freeride-oriented boot. The snug 100 mm, low-volume fit favors narrower feet, and the heat-moldable Intuition liner helps fine-tune comfort. A GripWalk Tour sole with tech inserts works across compatible alpine and touring setups.

Why We Like It
- At 1,430 g per boot (size 27), the 4-Quattro SL is the lightest of the men's 4-Quattro boots while still skiing a supportive 120 flex.
- The Pebax Rnew shell gives a more progressive, forgiving flex than the stiffer Grilamid Bio XT, which suits skiers who do not need a full 130.
- The GripWalk (ISO 23223) Presa sole with tech inserts lets one boot pair with GripWalk alpine bindings, hybrid bindings, and pin-tech touring bindings.
- The four-buckle closure with a power strap wraps the low-volume shell securely and drives skis on and off piste.
- The 61-degree range of motion and ski/walk lever tour efficiently for a four-buckle boot.
- The Intuition 4Pro Flex SL liner is heat-moldable, so we can dial in the snug, low-volume fit.
Best Uses
- One-boot quiver for resort days with a walk mode plus backcountry touring
- All-mountain and sidecountry skiing that mixes lift access with skins
- Skiing on skis 88 to 108 mm underfoot
- Skiers with narrow, low-volume, low-instep feet who want a progressive flex
- 50/50 skiers who want GripWalk and pin-tech compatibility in one boot
Bootfitter's Advice
The 4-Quattro SL uses the same shell as the 4-Quattro XT, but its snugger Intuition 4Pro Flex SL liner closes up the lower boot, so it fits narrower than the 100 mm last suggests, with a low instep and a tight heel and ankle. It suits flat, narrow feet best. After fitting the 4-Quattro line, we find the SL flexes a touch more progressively than the Grilamid XT, which lighter and less aggressive skiers appreciate. Confirm size with a shell fit rather than converting from a street-shoe number.
We can punch the Pebax Rnew forefoot across the metatarsals, which the shell accepts well, but the low instep is the hardest area to gain volume in beyond a firm liner mold. Skiers with a high instep should budget for fit work or look at a higher-volume shell. We recommend molding the Intuition 4Pro Flex SL liner to lock in heel hold.

Compare the Scarpa 4-Quattro SL
4-Quattro SL vs. Scarpa 4-Quattro XT
The Scarpa 4-Quattro XT uses a stiffer Grilamid Bio shell and a Booster power strap for a firmer 130 flex, while the 4-Quattro SL runs a Pebax Rnew shell for a more progressive 120 on the same 100 mm last. Aggressive skiers who want maximum drive choose the XT, while skiers who prefer a smoother, more forgiving flex choose the SL.
Shop Scarpa 4-Quattro XT boots4-Quattro SL vs. Scarpa 4-Quattro Pro
The Scarpa 4-Quattro Pro is the stiffest of the line, with a reinforced cuff, a Secure SpeedLock 4 walk mechanism, and a stated 130-plus flex, aimed at the most aggressive skiers. The 4-Quattro SL is the lightest and most progressive at a 120 flex, so it suits skiers who value a smoother flex and lower weight over maximum stiffness.

The Scarpa Maestrale RS is a touring boot with a Vibram Cayman ISO 9523 sole, tuned for efficient touring and quick transitions.
