Description
The Scarpa 4-Quattro XT is a 130-flex, four-buckle freeride hybrid on a 100mm last, 1,500 g per boot with 61 cuff rotation and a GripWalk (ISO 23223) sole. A quiver-of-one for resort and backcountry.
Tech Specs
Scarpa 4-Quattro XT Alpine Touring Boot
The SCARPA 4-Quattro XT is built for strong skiers who want one boot for resort laps, sidecountry, and backcountry tours where downhill performance comes first. Its 130 flex and four-buckle overlap design provide firm support for driving bigger skis, while a 61° range of motion makes climbing and bootpacking more comfortable than a standard alpine boot. At 1,500 g in size 27, it is reasonably light for its power, and the GripWalk Tour sole works with compatible alpine and tech bindings.

Why We Like It
- At 1,500 g per boot (size 27), the 4-Quattro XT skis like a resort boot while still touring with a 61-degree range of motion, a rare balance in a four-buckle hybrid.
- The 130 flex is real. We find the Grilamid Bio shell and overlap cuff deliver a firm, supportive flex that holds up driving skis inbounds and in variable snow.
- The GripWalk (ISO 23223) Presa sole with tech inserts lets one boot move between GripWalk alpine bindings and pin-tech touring bindings, which is the reason many skiers buy it.
- The low stand height sits the foot close to the ski for quick, direct edge engagement.
- The four-buckle closure with a Booster power strap wraps the low-volume shell securely and drives power to the ski.
- The Intuition 4PRO Flex XT liner is heat-moldable, so we can dial in the snug, low-volume fit.
Best Uses
- One-boot quiver for resort days with a walk mode plus backcountry touring
- Freeride and sidecountry laps that mix lift access with short skins
- Aggressive skiing on skis 90 to 110 mm underfoot
- Low-volume, low-instep feet with a slim heel and ankle
- 50/50 skiers who want GripWalk and pin-tech compatibility in one boot
Bootfitter's Advice
The 4-Quattro XT is one of the lower-volume boots we fit. Forefoot width sits close to average for its 100 mm last, but the roof over the toes and instep is low, and the heel and ankle pocket is tight. After fitting these to many skiers, we find they suit flat, low-volume feet of average or narrower width best, and skiers coming from a voluminous boot like the old Scarpa Freedom or Maestrale 3.0 will notice much less room. Confirm size with a shell fit rather than converting from a street-shoe number.
We can punch the Grilamid Bio forefoot across the metatarsals, at the fifth-toe area and over the big toe, and relieve the medial ankle bone, all of which the shell takes well, but the low instep is hard to gain volume in beyond a firm liner mold. Skiers with a high instep should budget for fit work or look at a higher-volume shell. We recommend molding the Intuition 4PRO Flex XT liner to lock in heel hold, and many skiers swap to a wrap-style liner for longer tours.

Compare the Scarpa 4-Quattro XT
4-Quattro XT vs. Scarpa 4-Quattro Pro
The Scarpa 4-Quattro Pro shares the XT lower shell and low-volume fit but reinforces the cuff, upgrades to the Secure SpeedLock 4 walk mechanism, and states a 130-plus flex for the most aggressive skiers. The 4-Quattro XT is the slightly lighter, more affordable four-buckle 130 that still tours with the same 61-degree range of motion.
Shop Scarpa 4-Quattro Pro boots4-Quattro XT vs. Scarpa 4-Quattro SL
The Scarpa 4-Quattro SL uses a softer Pebax Rnew shell for a 120 flex on the same 100 mm last, while the 4-Quattro XT runs a stiffer Grilamid Bio shell for a firmer 130. Skiers who want maximum downhill power choose the XT, while lighter skiers or those wanting a more forgiving flex often prefer the SL.

Skiers cross-shop these two as 130-flex boots that ski inbounds and tour. The Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD 130 BOA is a 98 mm-last alpine-touring boot with a BOA forefoot and a GripWalk sole, while the Scarpa 4-Quattro XT tours with a longer 61-degree range of motion and adds a low stand height for a more direct feel. Foot shape and how much you tour usually decide it.
