The all-new Chisel is an impressive 18.4% lighter than its closest competitor, sharing geometry and kinematics with Specialized's World Cup-ready Epic 8 mountain bike. Whether you're racing “between the tape” or enjoying solo hot laps on local trails, the Chisel delivers performance you can truly feel.

Thanks to D'Aluisio Smartweld technology, the Chisel features the lightest aluminum cross-country (XC) frameset in its class. Each frame tube has been meticulously manipulated, exhibiting continuously varied wall thicknesses and shapes that provide stiffness where it's needed for efficiency, while ensuring ride-smoothing compliance for comfort and optimal control.

With 110mm of Ride Dynamics-tuned suspension, the Chisel inherits its high-performance pedigree directly from the Epic 8, the World Cup race machine. The advanced suspension kinematics, Ride Dynamics-tuned suspension, and progressive geometry developed for the technical terrains of World Cup courses make the Chisel exceptionally capable of handling a variety of terrains with confidence and speed.

The Chisel is also the most efficient pedaling bike in its class. Its geometry and kinematics are closely modeled after the World Cup racing Epic 8 platform. The steep seat tube positions the rider for optimal pedaling efficiency, while honed anti-squat reduces pedal bob.

Combining these features ensures that every watt applied to the pedals translates into maximum forward motion. Specialized has engineered a flex-stay rear end to provide class-leading suspension performance while minimizing the extra weight and maintenance typically associated with pivots in a traditional design.

While flex-stay designs are more common in carbon bikes, extensive field and lab testing confirm that the Chisel achieves the efficiency, control, and lightweight characteristics of this approach using advanced alloy.

Additionally, the Chisel reduces weight with a one-piece hydroformed seat tube that integrates the seat tube pivot, main pivot, and bottom bracket shell. In contrast, traditional bikes typically have a seat tube that functions merely as a "tube" with separately welded pivots and a bottom bracket shell.
