Description
The Kastle TX99 is the widest and most freeride-inspired ski in Kastle's TX Touring lineup. The 99mm waist-width paired with ample tip and tail surface area produces a ski with ample float for the deepest days, but in a lightweight 1400g package that doesn't compromise uphill efficiency. Though designed primarily as a soft-snow ski, a longer sidecut and a denser, damper wood core increase versatility in firmer and variable conditions should the previous night's storm under-deliver.
Tech Specs
The Kastle TX99 Alpine Touring Ski is the widest, most freeride-inspired ski in Kastle's newly redesigned TX touring ski lineup. Perfect for skiers looking to squeeze out the maximum number of laps in their secret powder stash, the TX99 makes takes a no-compromises approach to balancing uphill and downhill performance. Featuring a slightly denser paulownia and poplar wood core than the rest of the TX lineup but with the same fiberglass and carbon wound laminate, the TX99 promises to pair equally as well with stronger, more freeride-focused boots and bindings than the more uphill-oriented skis in the TX line. This results in a 1400g ski that excels being skied aggressively in softer snow but is by no means a one-trick pony.
The construction of the TX99, combined with Low Camber and Progressive Dual Rise tip and tail ensures that this ski won't let you down in firmer or variable conditions. The Hollowtech Evo Luminous tip technology keeps the ski planted over inconsistencies in the snowpack, and a slightly longer side provides ample edge hold. Unlike other, much wider soft-snow offerings in the touring world, Kastle's approach with the TX99 results in a ski that doesn't need to sit around collecting dust during those extended high-pressure systems.
