Tech Specs
Tecnica Mach1 MV 120 Alpine Boot
The Tecnica Mach1 MV 120 is an alpine boot for advanced and expert resort skiers with average-width feet who want power without a race fit. A 120 flex over a bi-injected polyurethane cuff with a back spine puts a long lever between the cuff and the shell, which is what makes this boot change edges quickly rather than just feel stiff. The 100 mm last is medium-volume at 1,835 g per boot in a 26.5, and the shell is new for this season with a reshaped instep, so anyone who tried an older Mach1 MV and found it tight over the top of the foot should try this one again.

Why We Like It
- The shell is reshaped for this season with more room over the instep, which was the fit complaint on the previous Mach1 MV.
- A bi-injected cuff and back spine give the 120 flex somewhere to work, so the boot loads progressively instead of stopping dead.
- Polyurethane punches and grinds easily, and the dimpled C.A.S. shell heats evenly, which makes fit work quick.
- The Celliant liner has a floating tongue, so tongue pressure can be moved rather than just tolerated.
Best Uses
- Everyday resort skiing at speed
- Carving groomers on a narrow to mid-width ski
- Skiers driving titanal all-mountain skis
- Medium-volume feet on a 100 mm last
- Skiers who want an alpine boot rather than a hybrid
Bootfitter's Advice
After fitting a lot of Mach1 shells over the years, we treat the MV as the default Tecnica fit and the LV as the exception. Confirm size with a shell fit rather than a street-shoe conversion. Tecnica shells cover two mondo sizes, so a 26.0 and a 26.5 are the same shell at a 305 mm sole length, and the full chart is in the specifications above.
The instep on this generation is reshaped, so a skier who sized up on an older Mach1 MV to escape instep pressure should be re-measured rather than matched to their old size. Polyurethane takes punches and grinding readily. We keep heavy work off the back spine, since that is the structure carrying the flex.

Compare the Tecnica Mach1 MV 120
Mach1 MV 120 vs. Tecnica Mach1 LV 120
Same boot on a narrower last. The LV runs 98 mm at 1,930 g per boot in a 27.5, against 100 mm and 1,835 g in a 26.5 on the MV. Flex, cuff and sole are shared. A narrow foot or a skier who wants maximum wrap takes the LV.

The 130 is the same 100 mm shell with a co-injected Grilamid and carbon cuff and a High Performance liner, at 1,905 g per boot in a 26.5. It asks for more skier weight and technique. The 120 is the version most advanced skiers should be in.

Same flex, different job. The Cochise 120 adds a walk mode with 55 degrees of rotation and low tech inserts on a 99 mm last, at 1,850 g per boot in a 27.5. Skiers who never walk in their boots gain fit precision from the Mach1.
