Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard

The Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard is a big-mountain freeride split for advanced riders who tour to ride steep, committing lines and want one board that holds on ice and still floats when it storms. A tapered directional twin shape with 12 mm of taper and a 20 mm stance setback keeps the nose up in deep snow, while HALFcamber 59, a profile that is 59% camber and 41% rocker, and 1 mm SPEEDbumps under each binding give the edge real bite on firm traverses. Cardiff builds the Goat Enduro by hand around an AMERIcore Split core, a cedar and aspen wood core laced with web-fused carbon, and finishes it with 2.2 mm hardened edges, choosing durability over the lightest possible build for seasons of rocky approaches, spring corn and storm days.

Why We Like It

  • HALFcamber 59 puts 59% of the profile in camber underfoot and 41% in rocker toward the nose and tail. The cambered middle grips the skin track and icy sidehills, and the rockered ends lift the board in deep snow.
  • SPEEDbumps are 1 mm reverse-sidecut bumps on both the toe and heel edges, set in line with the bindings. They put extra edge pressure exactly where your weight sits, which is what holds a split on a hard, exposed traverse.
  • The SWALEtail is a patented tail recurve that seats any brand's tail clip, so skin choice is not tied to one maker and the clip stays put on long climbs.
  • The build is chosen for abuse: UNIwall sidewalls, a urethane layer fused into the wood core, FORGEDtail urethane tail protectors, and 2.2 mm edges hardened to 48 Rockwell for rock-strewn approaches and low-tide springs.

Best Uses

  • Steep, committing big-mountain lines and couloirs
  • Storm-day powder in open bowls and alpine terrain
  • Firm, exposed traverses and icy sidehills on the skin track
  • Spring corn missions over rocky approaches
  • Riders who want a directional board that still rides switch

Splitboard Selection Advice

Size the Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard on surface area and boot width, not length alone. Cardiff prints the surface area on every board: the 158 carries 4,246 cm² on a 261 mm waist, and the 162 carries 4,420 cm² on a 265 mm waist. Cardiff also marks the board width at each binding, 273.5 mm at the front foot and 269.5 mm at the rear foot on the 158, so riders in larger boots can check toe and heel overhang against the actual binding area rather than the waist. Reference stance runs 540 mm on the 150, 560 mm on the 154 and 156, and 580 mm from the 158 up, with a 20 mm setback on every size.

The Goat Enduro is sold on its own, so the binding interface and skins are separate purchases. Plan the binding system first and confirm its puck pattern against the board before mounting. Skins are cut to the board's shape; the SWALEtail seats any brand's tail clip, so pick skins on glide and glue rather than clip compatibility. The board ships with a 1° base and 1° side bevel, detuned at the nose and tail, and a fluoro-free factory wax, so it rides out of the wrapper once the interface is on.

Compare the Cardiff Goat Enduro

Goat Enduro vs. Cardiff Goat Pro Carbon Splitboard

Same Goat name and the same HALFcamber 59 profile in Cardiff's premium build. The Cardiff Goat Pro Carbon Splitboard uses a MASTERcore PRO Split core of 92% paulownia and 8% poplar with flax and vertical Titanal, and comes in 158, 162 and 166 only. Riders who count every step on long approaches look at the Pro Carbon; riders who are hard on gear take the Goat Enduro.

Goat Enduro vs. Jones Howler Splitboard

Both target steep, technical descents. The Jones Howler Splitboard runs full tip-to-tail camber at a mid-stiff flex for maximum edge hold. The Goat Enduro splits its profile at 59% camber and 41% rocker and adds 12 mm of taper, so it gives a little edge for noticeably more float. Snowpack decides: firm and steep favors the Howler, mixed and deep favors the Goat Enduro.

Goat Enduro vs. Weston Backwoods Splitboard

Both are directional freeride splits with rockered ends. The Weston Backwoods Splitboard carries 18 mm of taper, which sinks the tail harder in deep snow. The Goat Enduro runs 12 mm on a tapered directional twin, so it stays more balanced on firm snow and rides switch more willingly.

Common Questions

Who should buy the Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard?
The Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard suits advanced to expert riders who tour for steep, big-mountain lines and want one board for firm and deep snow. HALFcamber 59, with 59% camber and 41% rocker, holds an edge on icy traverses. 12 mm of taper and a 20 mm setback keep the nose up in powder, and the Enduro build favors durability for riders who are hard on gear.
What bindings and skins work with the Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard?
The Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard takes splitboard-specific bindings that mount to splitboard hardware and transition between tour and ride mode. Standard solid-board snowboard bindings are not compatible. The board is sold on its own, so the binding interface and skins are separate purchases. The SWALEtail recurve holds any brand's tail clip. Confirm the puck pattern of your binding system against the board before mounting.
Is the 26/27 Goat Enduro the same board as last season's?
Not quite, and the change is inside the board rather than on the size chart. The 26/27 Goat Enduro uses Cardiff's AMERIcore Split core, a 50/50 blend of Northern White Cedar and Eastern Aspen, where the previous Goat Enduro split used a 65/35 cedar and aspen layup. Cardiff also now builds it by hand in its founding workshop. The published shape is unchanged from the 25/26 Goat Enduro: the same dimensions, 12 mm taper and 9.3 to 10.0 m sidecut across the run. Expect the same shape with a different core feel.
How should I size the Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard?
Size on surface area and boot width before length. Cardiff prints the surface area on each board, from 3,912 cm² on the 150 to 4,600 cm² on the 166, and marks the width at each binding so you can check boot overhang directly. On the 158 that is 273.5 mm at the front foot and 269.5 mm at the rear. Heavier riders and those who ride mostly deep snow size toward more surface area.
What does HALFcamber 59 mean on the Goat Enduro?
HALFcamber 59 is the share of the board's profile in camber. The Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard runs 59% camber underfoot and 41% rocker toward the nose and tail. The camber gives grip on the skin track and edge hold on firm snow, and the rocker lifts the ends in deep snow and makes the board easier to pivot in tight terrain.
Can the Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard ride switch?
Yes, within limits. The Goat Enduro is a tapered directional twin with the sidecut centered on the stance, so it rides switch more naturally than a fully directional powder shape. The 12 mm of taper and 20 mm setback still make it a forward-facing board first, and it rides best with your regular foot forward in deep snow.

Our Verdict

The Cardiff Goat Enduro Splitboard is the Goat for riders who want one durable split for steep lines in any snow. HALFcamber 59 and 1 mm SPEEDbumps give it real grip on firm, exposed traverses, while 12 mm of taper and a 20 mm setback keep the nose up when it storms. The 26/27 build moves to a 50/50 cedar and aspen AMERIcore Split core made by hand in Cardiff's founding workshop, wrapped in urethane sidewalls and 2.2 mm hardened edges. Riders chasing the lightest setup should look at the Goat Pro Carbon; riders who want a board that shrugs off rocks and ice should start here.
