Elan W Ripstick 94 Black Edition Alpine Ski
Elan W Ripstick 94 Black Edition Alpine Ski
The Elan W Ripstick 94 Black Edition is a women's freeride ski for advanced and expert skiers who ski the whole mountain at a real pace and want the ski to stay with them. Quadrod runs four carbon rods through the Tubelite wood core instead of two, and a C-Ply carbon layer through the mid-body firms up the section under the binding, on the same 129-94-109 mm shape as the standard W Ripstick 94. Weight holds at 1,500 g per ski at 168 cm across five lengths from 147 to 175 cm, so the extra stiffness arrives without the extra mass a metal laminate would cost.

Why We Like It
- Four carbon rods in the wood core rather than two, plus a C-Ply carbon layer under the binding, stiffen the ski in torsion, which is what stops a 94 mm ski from washing out at the end of a fast turn.
- 1,500 g per ski at 168 cm is the same published weight as the standard W Ripstick 94, so the carbon buys stiffness rather than mass.
- Amphibio, Elan's asymmetric profile, cambers the inside edge for grip and rockers the outside edge for easy entry, which keeps a stiff ski from feeling locked in.
- Five lengths from 147 to 175 cm on a 12.8 m to 16.8 m radius map mean a strong skier can pick turn shape rather than take whatever the one available length gives.
Best Uses
- Fast groomer laps where a stiffer 94 mm ski holds its line
- Chopped-up snow in the afternoon after a storm
- Trees and steeps for a skier who drives the ski rather than steering it
- Skiers stepping up from the standard W Ripstick 94
- All-day resort skiing at 1,500 g per ski at 168 cm
Ski Specialist’s Advice
The length run and the radius map are identical to the standard W Ripstick 94, so the question is not what length but how much ski you want at that length. The stiffer carbon layup needs pressure to bend, so a skier between two lengths who skis fast should take the longer one, and a lighter skier who is happy at 154 cm on the standard ski should stay at 154 cm here rather than move up.
Elan pairs the W Ripstick 94 Black Edition with an Attack LYT 11, and any brake from 95 mm to 110 mm clears the 94 mm waist. Match the binding to your boot sole norm rather than to the ski. Bring the boots when you drop the skis off so the mount goes against your own sole length, which matters more on a stiff ski than a soft one.
These are left and right specific skis, marked as such, because the profile is asymmetric. Worth checking the marks before the first run of the day. One difference from the unisex Black Edition skis: this one runs the standard sintered base rather than the race structured version, which we would only notice on wet spring snow.

Both are women's 94 mm skis for strong skiers. The Atomic Maven 94 CTI adds titanal, which damps chatter and suits a skier who wants the ski to feel planted. The Elan W Ripstick 94 Black Edition uses carbon alone, so the ski is lighter and quicker to release out of a turn.
