Lightweight Carbon Touring Boot

Fischer Travers Carbon Pro Alpine Touring Boot

The Fischer Travers Carbon Pro is a light touring boot for uphill-focused skiers who log big vertical, fitness laps, and ski mountaineering days. A Carbonfused shell and cuff with a carbon sole plate keep the boot stiff and torsionally solid for its class, and a BOA dial on the lower shell adjusts the fit in seconds on the move. With 80 degrees of cuff rotation and a Vibram Litebase sole for rock and ice, the Fischer Travers Carbon Pro is built for long skin tracks, ridgelines, and fast transitions.

Why We Like It

  • 80 degrees of cuff rotation gives a long, free stride for skin tracks, bootpacks, and scrambling.
  • Carbonfused construction, carbon-infused shell and cuff plastic, adds stiffness without the weight of a thicker shell.
  • The BOA H4 Touring system tightens the lower shell with a dial, so a mid-tour fit adjustment takes seconds with gloves on.
  • The Vibram Litebase sole with Traction Lug, a thin, lugged rubber sole, holds on rock ridges and icy approaches.

Best Uses

  • Big-vertical touring days
  • Uphill fitness laps
  • Ski mountaineering and ridge traverses
  • Medium to slightly wide feet with square toes

Bootfitter's Advice

The Fischer Travers Carbon Pro is built on a 100 mm last, but we find it fits medium to high in volume. The toe box is square and roomy, angled slightly outward at the toes, and the forefoot runs a little wider than average, enough to clear many bunions. The instep is medium, and the BOA lower lets a higher instep back off pressure. The heel and ankle shell sit on the wide side of medium; the thicker heel and ankle padding in this generation's liner snugs them up, and BOA tension takes out the rest. Low-volume feet should try the next shell size down at the shell fit.

A carbon-reinforced shell is less forgiving of large modifications than plain polyurethane, so we can punch a sixth toe or a bunion area, but a foot that needs major width should start in a roomier shell. The BOA lower spreads pressure across the forefoot, which helps feet that pinch under a single buckle.

Final sizing should be confirmed with a shell fit whenever possible.

Common Questions

What bindings work with the Fischer Travers Carbon Pro?
The Fischer Travers Carbon Pro has pin-tech inserts and no ISO sole norm. It works with pin/tech (low-tech) touring bindings only. It is not compatible with frame, MNC, GripWalk, or alpine bindings.
Who should buy the Fischer Travers Carbon Pro?
Fit, uphill-focused skiers with medium to slightly wide feet and square toes who want a long stride and a fast fit adjustment. The Fischer Travers Carbon Pro suits big-vertical tours, fitness laps, and ski mountaineering on pin bindings.
Is the Fischer Travers Carbon Pro a race boot?
No. The Fischer Travers Carbon Pro is a lightweight touring boot with a full Travers Pro liner, a BOA closure, and a strap buckle. It walks with race-boot freedom at 80 degrees but is built for long tours rather than race transitions.
How does the Fischer Travers Carbon Pro fit?
The Fischer Travers Carbon Pro runs medium to high in volume on a 100 mm last, with a square, roomy toe box, a forefoot a little wider than average, a medium instep, and a heel that relies on the liner and BOA tension for hold. The liner feels snug out of the box and settles within the first hour of wear. Confirm length with a shell fit.
What does the BOA system do on the Fischer Travers Carbon Pro?
The BOA H4 Touring dial tightens a cable around the lower shell in small steps, so you can loosen it for the climb and snug it for the descent without removing gloves.
Can the Fischer Travers Carbon Pro be punched?
Yes, within limits. The carbon-reinforced shell accepts moderate punching for a sixth toe or bunion, but it is less forgiving of large width changes than a plain polyurethane shell.

Our Verdict

The Fischer Travers Carbon Pro is a light, efficient touring boot for skiers who measure days in vertical. 80 degrees of cuff rotation, a carbon-reinforced shell and sole plate, and a BOA lower closure make it fast on the skin track and quick to adjust. It works with pin/tech bindings only and is not a freeride boot, so resort-first skiers belong elsewhere. For medium to slightly wide feet with square toes and long uphill days, the Fischer Travers Carbon Pro earns its place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What foot shape works best?

Low- to medium-volume feet with a lower instep and secure heel.

Does it punch well?

Minor boot fitting is possible, but race boots are less forgiving to modify than heavier Grilamid touring boots.
