Bootfitter's Advice
The Scarpa Gea runs a 102 mm last with a women's-specific cuff, which makes the Scarpa Gea the roomier of the two women's shells now that the Gea RS has narrowed to 101 mm. A wide forefoot and a high instep are generally accommodated without shell work.
A polyurethane shell punches less readily than a Grilamid shell, a tough engineering nylon, and should be worked by a fitter who knows the material. Plan on molding the Intuition Pro Flex Touring Women's liner, a heat-moldable foam liner, to set heel hold.
