The Scarpa Maestrale RS runs a 101 mm last, which is 1 mm narrower than the previous generation and places the Maestrale RS in medium-volume territory rather than wide. The four-buckle closure gives more adjustment range across the instep than the three-buckle Wave layout it replaces, so a low instep can be taken up with buckle position rather than liner volume. Confirm size with a shell fit rather than converting from a street-shoe number.
A Grilamid shell, a tough engineering nylon, takes forefoot and sixth-toe punches well and holds the correction. The Intuition Pro Flex Performance liner, a heat-moldable foam liner, should be molded to set heel hold before the boot sees a full day.
