The Scott Ransom 400 is a full-suspension kids' mountain bike built for young riders ready to move past the pump track and into real trails, jumps, and bike park laps. Sized for kids from 125cm and up on 24-inch wheels, the 6061 alloy frame uses custom butted tubing to keep the weight down to 13.4kg (29.54lbs), so smaller riders can actually throw the bike around. Front and rear suspension smooths out the rough stuff, with an X-Fusion Slant RC 26 fork handling 140mm of travel up front and an X-Fusion O2 Pro R shock delivering 130mm out back. Both are tuned specifically for lighter body weights, which is a big deal because most adult suspension feels like a brick wall to a 70-pound rider.

Shifting is handled by an 11-speed SRAM NX setup with a wide 11-42T cassette, giving kids plenty of range for steep climbs without feeling overwhelmed by complicated gears. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes (BR-MT410) pair with short-reach levers, so small hands can pull them easily, and the 180mm front/160mm rear rotors deliver real stopping power as speeds pick up. Kenda Hellkat tires in 24x2.4 give the kind of grip you actually want on loose, rocky descents, not the skinny, slick rubber you find on most kids' bikes.

Every touchpoint is sized for younger riders: a 580mm LEADTEC riser bar, 40mm stem, 19mm lock-on grips, and a Syncros Ducan Remote dropper post with 80mm of drop so the saddle gets out of the way on descents. Max system weight (bike, rider, gear) is 80kg. If your kid is ready to stop asking "can I try that?" and start dropping into it, the Ransom 400 gives them a capable full-suspension platform to grow their skills on without waiting for an adult frame.
