The Crux DSW is not just the lightest alloy gravel bike ever made; it represents the culmination of everything we learned while creating the carbon Crux. Utilizing Specialized's patented D’Aluisio Smartweld technology, we have developed the most capable, nimble, balanced, and responsive alloy gravel bike for fast, enjoyable, high-performance riding. And yes, it really is the lightest. While some may refer to it as a carbon copy, we call it the Crux DSW.
With increased tire clearance, the Crux DSW matches its carbon counterpart, accommodating tires up to 47mm wide and 2.1” on a 650b wheel. Paired with the rugged yet lightweight alloy frame, the Crux DSW is equipped to take you wherever you can imagine, at full speed.
It’s responsive at the pedals and comfortable in the saddle. We employed D'Aluisio Smartweld to fine-tune the alloy's performance characteristics, delivering a ride previously attainable only with carbon.
The bike features the same performance-inspired geometry and race-influenced fit as the carbon Crux. A longer reach promotes better weight distribution for quick, confident handling, while a lower stack height encourages a performance-first riding position. With a bottom bracket drop of 72mm, we strike the perfect balance between nimbleness and stability.
D'Aluisio Smartweld, or DSW, is a patented engineering process that utilizes hydroforming to precisely align tube-to-tube joints. This results in stronger welds and, ultimately, a lighter frame that is twice as durable as traditional alloy frames. This Smartweld technique allows us to create a unique single-piece downtube and bottom bracket for the Crux, reducing weight and enhancing responsiveness.
