A 137-104-121 mm shape at 171 cm keeps the early-rise tip and wide flat tail on an 18.5 m radius, and a continuous TPU sidewall over a paulownia core damps the chatter that a cap ski hands back through the boot. At 1,488 g per ski in a 171 the Voile Charger Ace also carries a maple mounting patch, which is why one ski will hold a light pin binding or the most aggressive telemark binding on the rack.

Why We Like It
- A continuous TPU sidewall, a tough polyurethane strip running above the edge, sends boot pressure straight down to the steel and soaks up the return, which is what a 104 mm ski needs when the snow turns to chunder.

The Voile Charger Ace starts at 157 cm and runs its own sidecut at the short end, 129-100-114 mm on a 17 m radius rather than the poplar Charger's 125-99-112 mm on 17.6 m, so cross-shopping the two by length needs care. Weight runs from 1,230 g per ski at 157 cm to 1,748 g per ski at 185 cm. The shape wants speed, so take the length you ski at the resort rather than shortening it for touring.
Between the maple patch and the sidewall, this ski holds anything from a light pin binding to a hard-charging telemark binding. Fitting quiver killers is still a warranty problem. Use the boot center mark on the topsheet, which Voile charts size by size, and leave the plate out. Match binding to your boot sole norm, size brakes to the waist at your length from 100 mm at 157 cm to 108 mm at 185 cm, and run skins at a 140 mm stock width for the 114 to 126 mm tail.
