In an ideal world, every back country ski tour takes you to a hidden range with 2000' runs full of waist deep powder, no lines, and no avalanche danger. Unfortunately, that is a pipe dream and actually only occurs to the luckiest of us a hand full of days a year in a place called Alaska. Recognizing the realities of the majority of real tours, Voile created the Objective. According to them it falls somewhere between the WSP and the Vector. It is lighter and narrower than their powder skis and is designed for longer days and less than stellar snow conditions. For our East Coast friends, this is an ideal backcountry ski. Its capped construction will allow for awesome edge control on that stuff you guys call snow but we all really know as ice, as well as being light enough to take long distances thanks to the Aspen wood core.
