An aid climbing step ladder for big wall climbers who need to stand in a fixed piece and work up a section of rock that free techniques won't solve, the Black Diamond Five-Step Etrier uses reinforced nylon construction at 210g and a 140cm length rated to 10kN. The five-step offset layout provides a working sequence that reaches high enough on a pin or bolt placement to set the next piece efficiently, and reinforced clip-in and ballast points handle repeated loading cycles across multi-pitch aid routes without fatigue at the attachment hardware. The Five-Step covers the majority of aid pitches where a two-step aider falls short and a six-step ladder adds unnecessary length.
