Great Service and Product!
These have quickly become my go-to shoe for everything from short trail intervals to 20 mile long runs. (Beyond the 50km distance, I would go for more cushion, like Dynafit's Ultra 100's). The fit is great right out of the box - provided you size up. I went up one full US size. Through about 100 miles so far the Vibram rubber looks good as new. I've found them to have great traction on technical trail and scrambles, without being too aggressive of tread for my home Wasatch trails. The upper is cool, comfortable and light but still seems plenty durable.
These are the slightly less race-oriented version of the DNA Alpine, but I think the average purchaser will appreciate the slightly lower price, increased durability and same light-weight offering of this shoe.
If I could only have one shoe, these would be the ones! The Ultra design provides enough cushion and comfort for big days, but they're light and snappy enough for spadework and daily runs. I dig the Pomoca rubber outsole. They're grippy and durable and not over-the-top aggressive. I put 450 miles on these before grabbing a new pair (90% on trail). At this point, the outer started to blow out, but the tread was still in great condition.
My recommendation is to go up one full US size. With that in mind, fit is great for a medium-wide foot.
Easy installation on a pomoca all mohair skin that was too long for my skis. So I cut the pomoca skins to the appropriate length, installed the tail kit from Black Diamond, and I was good to go. All works well! Cheers
Eric did an excellent job mounting a pair of new skis for me. I appreciate his precision and competence. They’ve worked great.
Fantastic recommendation from the Carbondale crew. First boots I have had that have been comfortable from day one. Only slightly heavier than my Spectres but feel way more solid and will be great for on mountain as well as backcountry.
Fantastic pair. Helpful process
Both ski and binding have performed very well. My previous touring was on a Wagner Custom ski with shift bindings. The weight savings has been extremely noticeable and nice. Still gaining confidence on 1st set of pin bindings but I can say the ATK is strong and provides lots of confidence for its weight class. The ski has performed very well for its weight. Excited to get these out next winter in a hopefully more stable snow pack throughout the entire winter. Here’s to a steep and deep winter 21/22
The boots were too small. I returned them.
They are great construction. Suites the purpose. Could relate product to Frank's Redhot hot sauce I use that s*** on everything.
Love these boots! they are light and flexible on the way up, and sturdy on the way down. Great middle of the road backcountry boot, I have a narrow toe box and these boots are great especially when using the laces in the liner.
Quick off season work. Very pleasant
He hasn't skied them yet but says they will surely rip!
I didn't know what a ski crampon was, but it's on the packing list for Mt. Baker... Cripple Creek Backcountry was really helpful ordering and mounting them (already had the G3 Ion bindings) and showing me how to put them on and take them off.
This mid layer jacket is everything Dynafit claims it to be. At any pace beyond a stroll, you become an inferno. Beads light wet snow so well you have to shake off before going inside. Super light weight and the athletic/trim fit is great for moving about. Not too snug and can fit over any base layer. As for the fit, I'm 5'7" and 160 pounds. Purchased a medium and this is well-proportioned. Sleeves, which I sometimes find too long for clothes that fit my torso, are back of hand perfect. Pockets are roomy and hand pockets are warm and softly lined. Couldn't be happier and really looking forward to ski touring with this. Highly recommended, and also recommend Cripple Creek Backcountry for fast shipping. Thanks, Carbondale.
