The SCOTT Spark RC 700 Bike is a youth full-suspension mountain bike built for kids 145cm and taller who are ready to move past beginner trail bikes. It weighs 12.5 kg (27.56 lbs), which matters because a lighter bike is easier for a smaller rider to control, lift over obstacles, and pedal uphill without wearing out. The carbon frame, 27.5" wheels, and 80kg max system weight (combined rider, bike, and gear) make it a true race-ready setup rather than a scaled-down adult bike.
Where the Spark RC 700 stands apart is its suspension, which is tuned specifically for lighter riders. The Manitou Machete Comp fork and X-Fusion O2Pro R rear shock both deliver 120mm of travel with kid-specific air springs, meaning the suspension actually compresses and rebounds under a smaller rider's weight instead of feeling like a pogo stick. The SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain offers an 11-50T gear range, so climbs stay manageable and flats stay fast. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors give reliable stopping power in all conditions, and the adjustable head angle (-0.6°) lets the bike's handling evolve as the rider's skills grow.
The cockpit is sized to fit, not compromise: a 700mm handlebar, 40mm stem, 155mm cranks, and a kid-tuned dropper post (80mm drop, Syncros Dropper Ducan Kids Remote) all scale the fit to younger riders so they can actually reach the controls and move around on the bike. Maxxis Rekon Race tires (27.5x2.35") roll fast on hardpack and grip well in loose corners. For a junior racer moving into regional XC events, or a young rider ready to tackle technical singletrack with the family, the Spark RC 700 is the step up from a first mountain bike to a real one.
