Bootfitter's Advice
The Atomic Backland Carbon fits as a medium-volume boot on a 98mm last, narrow through the forefoot but with more room over the instep than the tighter Backland Ultimate. After fitting hundreds of skiers we find it suits narrow to average feet, and the heat-moldable shell lets us open it for wider forefeet. Confirm length with a shell fit rather than converting from street-shoe size.
The carbon-infused Memory Fit shell punches and molds reasonably well for a light touring boot, so we can create room at the sixth-toe, navicular, and ankle. Skiers with high insteps or very wide feet may prefer the roomier Backland XTD Carbon 120. The stock 3D Platinum Tour liner packs out over 80 to 100 days, so plan on an aftermarket liner once it loses its shape.
