Boot Fitters Advice
Tech Specs

Ladies asked for a freeride touring boot and Atomic delivered with the Hawx Ultra 115 W. This boot can be considered a queen-of-all-trades, as it marries the downhill capability of a four-buckled, alpine-style ski boot with the range of motion and light weight of a modern touring boot. The Hawx Ultra 115 W has four traditional alpine buckles plus a cuff cam strap that provide the same adjustable performance as an alpine downhill boot. The 115 indicates the 115 rated flex of the boot, being the stiffest model in the female Hawx line. These boots still shine for their comparable uphill performance, weighing in at a slender 1300 grams [for a size 24] and providing 54° of articulation in the ankle. The boot comes with both Investment Cast Tech Inserts and Tech GripWalk Pads to be compatible with both alpine tech bindings and alpine downhill bindings. So yes - these boots can do it all, and with a kind of class that only lady shredders can properly put to use.

Past models of the Hawx W have each improved with small and thoughtful design iterations. First, the buckles were redesigned to be more streamlined against the shell and cuff of the boot. Next, the Hawx changed its sole to a GripWalk Pad in order to be more compatible with alpine downhill bindings. Now with the 2021 model, Atomic has improved its liner with the new Mimic Platinum Liner for added support and improved moldability. Cheers Atomic to improving upon an already versatile, high-performance touring boot.

The Ultra XTD 115 W differs from Men's version of the Hawx Ultra by being specifically designed for female skiers. The cuff features a wider, more ergonomic calf area as well as a shorter cuff height for a secure, comfortable fit for all of the lady feet in the world. The Grilamid cuff and PU shell (material selection is what differentiates models in the Hawx lineup) provide a stiff flex pattern. Atomic has innovated its proprietary True Flex material technology which provides a consistently progressive flex throughout a large range of temperatures. So regardless of if its spring corn skiing or mid-winter powder, the Hawx will ski all the same (powerful and reliable that is). The shell comes in a 98mm last, best fitting narrow feet.

So stop your search - the Hawx Ultra XTD 115 W is your new do-it-all touring boot. Whether it is ripping resort laps or doing a big tour in the backcountry, the XTD 115 will provide performance and comfort, both uphill and downhill. Let's not forget that the 2021 model comes in a more angelic (or abominable snow women?) white color scheme.
