    I'll second the difficulty of these brakes

    I found this review will searching for videos about how to click into this binding with these brakes in the way. I find it takes a ton of tires to successfully suppress the brake while at the same time lining up the pin holes. The brake is basically in the way and prevents successful alignment. I was hoping someone figured out a technique. After some struggles today, I promised myself I'm going to spend an hour in doors doing it over and over again to see if I can at least figure out a dry technique for getting into these things. I'm also considering modifying the end of the brake under foot. Maybe bending the tip of the brake down or adding some tape to the tip so it grabs better on the boot rubber?

    Trouble stepping into bindings with these brakes

    I have used the Plum 170 binding for two years for skimo races and love them. As per the ISMF/USSMA requirements for 2023/24 season, I purchased Plum ISMF Race Brakes. I did not have much practice with them before my first race, but I found them really difficult to use! Fine when skinning or skiing, but my transitions were a nightmare! I cannot seem to get my toe to line up with pins when stepping into binding. I get locked out, and try repeatedly, but when I push downs, the pins are never lined up with boot holes. The shape of the underfoot lever rebuffs my efforts and I have to bend over and hold the brake arm up, while scrunching my foot into position. Really awkward and slow!!!! Has anyone else tried these brakes and figured them out? I noticed that many brakes I saw during the race were heel mounted…tips or suggestions on improved operating? Bummer transitions for sure!!!!
