Tech Specs
4FRNT Nevar Alpine Touring Ski
The 4FRNT Nevar Alpine Touring Ski is for tourers who want one ski that holds an edge on firm, steep snow and still handles a powder day, built as the cambered counterpart to the rockered 4FRNT Raven, whose name it spells backward. Traditional camber of 3 mm underfoot puts 1,410 mm of effective edge on the snow at 184 cm for grip on icy traverses, and a 22 m radius with a 104 mm waist keeps the ski quick between turns in mixed terrain. Weighing 1,820 g per ski at 184 cm, on an aspen and maple core with carbon stringers and a 4-Lock tail slot for the skin, the 4FRNT Nevar suits all-season touring, spring couloirs, and fast descents on variable snow.

Ski Profile
Why We Like It
- Three millimeters of traditional camber under the boot give the 4FRNT Nevar an edge that bites on refrozen skin tracks and steep, wind-pressed entrances.
- The 22 m radius is 7 m tighter than the Raven's on the same 104 mm waist, so the Nevar finishes turns on its own instead of waiting to be pivoted.
- Effective edge runs from 1,270 mm at 170 cm to 1,470 mm at 190 cm, long for a touring ski, which is what keeps it calm at speed.
- A neoprene tip insert, a rubber layer set into the shovel, damps the chatter that a cambered ski picks up on crusty snow.
Best Uses
- All-season touring in mixed snow
- Spring couloirs and firm, steep descents
- Icy skin tracks and traverses
- Fast skiing in open terrain
- A one-ski quiver at 104 mm underfoot
Ski Selection Advice
Camber makes the 4FRNT Nevar ski closer to its printed length than a rockered ski. The 22 m radius holds at every length, while the shovel widens from 125 mm at 170 cm to 132 mm at 190 cm and the effective edge grows from 1,270 mm to 1,470 mm. Most skiers can ride the Nevar at or slightly below their height; size up only for open terrain and high speeds.
4FRNT publishes a mount point measured from the tail of 765 mm at 170 cm, 800 mm at 177 cm, and 835 mm at 184 cm. The Nevar takes pin-tech or frame touring bindings at that line, and a brake has to clear the 104 mm waist, so choose a 105 mm brake or wider. Match the binding to your boot sole norm.
Size the skin off the tail. The tail measures 116 mm at 170 cm, 118 mm at 177 cm, and 120 mm at 184 cm, which a 120 mm skin covers; the 190 cm tail is 121 mm, so start from 140 mm stock. The 4-Lock slot needs a skin with a 4-Lock compatible tail strap.

Compare the 4FRNT Nevar
4FRNT Nevar vs. 4FRNT Raven
The 4FRNT Raven is the fully rockered ski on the same 104 mm waist, with a 29 m sidecut and 1,290 mm of effective edge at 184 cm. It pivots and breaks trail more easily in deep snow. The Nevar's 3 mm of camber and 22 m radius hold far better on firm snow. Choose the Raven for powder-focused touring and the Nevar for a ski that has to handle every condition.
4FRNT Raven Alpine Touring Ski4FRNT Nevar vs. 4FRNT Hoji
The 4FRNT Hoji is 8 mm wider at 112 mm, fully rockered with a 30 m radius, and 1,990 g per ski at 184 cm. It is the freeride and resort-powder ski of the pair. The Nevar is 170 g lighter per ski at 184 cm and grips on firm snow, which makes it the better ski for touring across a full season.
4FRNT Hoji Alpine Touring Ski4FRNT Nevar vs. Voile Hyper V6
The Voile Hyper V6 is 99 mm underfoot at 178 cm with a hybrid rocker and weighs 1,320 g per ski at 178 cm, so it climbs lighter and turns easily in trees. The Nevar carries more mass and a longer cambered edge, which keeps it steadier at speed on firm and chopped snow. Choose on whether the climb or the descent sets your priority.
