Tech Specs
Scarpa F1 RS Alpine Touring Boot
The SCARPA F1 RS Men’s is a lightweight alpine-touring boot for advanced backcountry skiers who want efficient climbing without giving up supportive downhill handling. It weighs 1,340 g in size 27 and combines a 115 flex, 101 mm last, and 60° cuff rotation. Overlap Flow construction makes entry easier, while the BOA H+1 system, cuff buckle, and Booster strap secure the foot. A Grilamid Fiber Glass LFT shell, Pebax Rnew cuff, and Intuition FS Tour liner complete the package of this well-rounded touring boot.

Why We Like It
- Overlap Flow construction is the feature you notice on a cold transition: the shell opens far enough that getting in and out is a breeze.
- A 115 flex at 1,340 g per boot in a 27 is a lot of shell for the weight, and the Booster power strap comes standard rather than as an upgrade.
- The BOA H+1 system closes the forefoot in one geared motion with multidirectional micro-adjustment, and one buckle handles the cuff, so a transition is two actions.
- A 101 mm last is a touring last rather than a 99 mm race last, which makes this the F1 that fits feet the Alien family will not.
Best Uses
- Fast ski mountaineering and long climbs
- Spring couloirs and technical terrain
- Skiers who transition often and value one-motion closure
- Pin-binding setups only
Bootfitter's Advice
The F1 RS runs a 101 mm last with medium width through the forefoot and more toe room than the F1 XT, but we find it lower over the instep and tighter in the heel than that last width suggests. It fits forefeet that the 99 mm Alien shells pinch, without going up to the 102 mm Maestrale platform, while higher-volume feet should expect fit work over the instep. Size with a shell fit.
Glass-fiber reinforced Grilamid takes punching moderately: less readily than plain Grilamid, more than a carbon shell. Work the fit through the Intuition FS Tour liner where possible, which Scarpa specifies at 6 to 8 minutes. Forward lean is 15 degrees with 2 degrees either way.

Compare the Scarpa F1 RS
F1 RS vs. Scarpa F1 RS Women’s
The Scarpa F1 RS Women’s is the same construction at a 100 flex and 1,210 g per boot in a 25, on the same 101 mm last with a women’s-specific liner and a shorter size run. Flex, size run and a women-specific fit separate the two.
Shop Scarpa F1 RS Women’s bootsF1 RS vs. Scarpa F1 XT
The Scarpa F1 XT is lighter at 1,145 g per boot in a 27 on a 100 mm last, with 72 degrees of rotation against 60 here, and it runs whole sizes only. The F1 RS is stiffer and easier to get into. Both are pin-only boots.
Shop Scarpa F1 XT bootsF1 RS vs. Scarpa Maestrale RS
The Scarpa Maestrale RS is the freeride touring boot at a 130 flex and 1,570 g per boot in a 27, on an ISO 9523 sole that also takes frame and MNC bindings. The F1 RS gives up 230 g and that compatibility. Skiers on skis over 105 mm should take the Maestrale RS.
