Aventon Abound LR Ebike

The Abound LR is the long-rack version of Aventon's cargo e-bike, and the extra 7 inches of deck is the whole point: it fits two passenger pads, or a child seat plus a pad, which the shorter SR cannot. Total payload is 440 lb with 143 lb on the rear rack. The front triangle is gravity cast rather than welded, a single piece of aluminum poured into a mold, and the stiffness difference shows up under a full load in a way that is hard to appreciate until the bike is loaded.

A 750 W rear hub motor delivers 80 Nm through a double-sided torque sensor, drawing on a 36 V, 20 Ah pack rated up to 60 miles. Worth knowing: Aventon lists the battery at 720 Wh and the pack's own label reads 733 Wh. It ships as a Class 2 bike, adjustable to a higher assist speed in the app where legal. A 51 mm suspension fork, suspension seatpost, and 20 by 3 inch tires manage the ride quality, and Tektro hydraulic brakes with a 203 mm rear rotor stop the whole loaded thing. The Aventon Control Unit adds 4G, GPS, geofencing, and a keyless electronic battery lock.
