The BCA Dozer 2H-S Shovel is the current version of BCA's two-mode rescue shovel, carrying the hoe function that defines the 2H. Converting the blade to sit perpendicular to the shaft lets a digger drag snow backward rather than lifting it, which matters because excavation is the slowest phase of any companion rescue and fatigue arrives fast.
Construction follows the rest of the Dozer line. The ovo-concave shaft resists bending under prying loads and grips better in the palm than a round shaft. A flat stomp edge on the low-profile blade lets body weight break into consolidated debris, and the flat front section cuts clean pit walls for snowpack tests. Spring pins engage automatically so the shovel assembles without fiddling in gloves, and the neckless blade packs flat. Designed to meet the UIAA standard for avalanche rescue shovels.
