Why We Like the Black Diamond Xenic 10 Touring Bindings
Following a strong tradition of safe, reliable bindings, Black Diamond and Fritschi are releasing their lightest offering yet in the Xenic, weighing in at only 280g (325g with optional brakes)! The toe piece offers similar laterally-active pin wings as the Evo and Tecton and the all-new heel piece rotates 180 degrees to provide both a flat-touring and single-riser mode.
The benefit of the lateral toe pins is to prevent pre-release in the event of impact, while also offering the easiest step-in of any tech toe. Just align your boot toe with the red block and push down lightly. The pins snap into place without the guesswork of other toe pieces.
The heel unit features a full 10mm elastic travel to soak up those bump lines or big hits, has 25mm of length adjustment, and the optional brakes come in three sizes up to 105mm. The crampon slots accommodate both Black Diamond-branded ski crampons as well as traditional slide-in Dynafit models.
All across the industry, tech bindings keep getting both lighter and safer. Make the move to the Xenic and follow the progression!
